0:10 Hello, welcome to Must Play, a podcast where we usually rate golf courses or have guests pitch us on their favorite local tracks. But today we have a special bonus round. We're doing our holiday edition. TJ and I are going to cover our top five gifts that golfers really want this year, where each of us list out the best golf gifts on our wish list in 2025. 0:29 So basically for listeners, if you have anyone in your life that's going to get you something this year and maybe you share this pod with them and give them a little hint at what you really want or maybe use this as a jump off point for what you really want. I found this a little difficult to make and to narrow down to five, but I was curious, TJ, for you, was this easy or hard to make? 0:49 This is interesting because everything on here, it's a mix of some things that I have and a mix of some things that I don't have. All of these things I could. All of the things that I do have, I can always use more of. They're like my favorites of said thing. 1:07 But I tried to stay away from being like this is the golf bag that I use. Every golfer should ask for this golf bag. There is some of those on here, but like, I didn't want it. I also didn't want this to literally just be like, hey, here's all the brands that we've worked with in the past year and a half of Fair Wagers and Must Play. 1:29 Let's make sure that we jam them all into this podcast. I thought about the same thing. Yeah, no, you know, no, no shade out there to bird darts and clinch and Bronan fox and now Deveraux, which I'm sure we'll actually talk about. 1:46 But like, I didn't want it to just be like, hey, this is just brands that these guys have affiliate codes for. Yeah, and stop listening right there and. Be like, oh, this is just a big advert, isn't it? Like, yeah, I'll say out of the five that I have, there's only one that's on here that you could technically use one of our discounts on, but you don't even have to buy from that brand. 2:12 None of my five are actually supporters of the pod, so this is a fairly unbiased list. Then there's no affiliate codes to have here. As I will always say with my, you know, with my sales hat on though, if you work for any of these brands or if you are a contact at any of these brands, do not hesitate to reach out to us in regards to any of these items. 2:36 The other point of this pod is every golfer knows you have the holiday season come up, you have Christmas, you're opening gifts and it's like the Ant the someone extended family got for you because they heard you like golf and you're like thanks. And it's like the novelty tea or it's something like. 2:53 Thanks for the box of noodles. Yeah, I got a shirt once. It's like need my daily dose of iron and it was like a iron I was. Like, come on. How can I do this? Yeah, I mean, don't get me wrong. 3:11 Like the other problem with like stuff like this is there's like the stereotypical gift and then the real problem and, and you and I know this, we work in search engine optimization by trade, is that if you go onto Google and search like gifts for golfers, every list that's on there like feet, like 90% of it is the same products over and over again. 3:31 Because realistically, they're paying for placement. Yes, little, little inside baseball there. Sometimes one of those might be legit, but the vast majority are just novelty. Or they're, you know, they're paying the most, but they're not the highest quality. Second question for you, did you stick to themes here? 3:49 Like is there a like for the ginger golfer? Should I say as a preview? Hell, no, no, no. These were, this was I'll, I'll, I'll give a little sneak peek to, to, to to moving forward of what what my 5 are. There's three specific things on here that I don't have that I would want as a gift today like that. 4:13 You can go out and buy me two. There's two other ones that I think are good replacements for all golfers, but there was not a there was not like I said, there was not a theme of things that I want. 4:29 There was not a theme of things that I have. But what about you? What did you did you? It feels like you're leading the witness here. Did you have a theme? My theme is that these are things I've always wished I would have got that I think are priced slightly higher, meaning I always default towards babe. 4:55 Don't spend that much on me, just go get this instead. I don't really need that this thing we'll do over here from Amazon or whatever, right? Yeah. My my 5 spoiler are expensive, but they're the five things that like, secretly I really wish I did have. 5:10 So yeah. I have been trying to lean into this in the last, I would, I would love to say six months, but it's probably been the last three months of buying less junk and buying and actually just spending the money. Shout out to good friend of ours Greg Stone, formerly Backswing Banter on Instagram. 5:32 I think he's content caddy now. I think he might actually be going through a rebrand here. But Greg being our like camera gear Sherpa, I needed new mics, new wireless mics more recently. And he was like, look, just spend the money on nice DJI mics. 5:49 And his motto is buy once, cry once if you spend the money. I like that. It's yeah, it's only going to upset you the first, the one time that you have to do it and then you don't have to worry about replacing it. That's such a good motto. OK, Shout out, Greg. That's good. Yeah, maybe that's the theme of my list. 6:07 That's. I, I, I honestly think that that's usually what Christmas gifts and birthday gifts should usually be reserved for. Is like buying the nicest version of something that you would never actually like spend on for yourself. 6:22 So like you go out and like get a Yeti cooler and it's like, yeah, like I only got 1 gift this year but I got a Geti cooler and I'll never have to buy another cooler ever again, right? You know, right. Or yeah, I mean, like I said, I'll go through some of these and. 6:39 We'll see. OK, without further ado, I think we should get into our list here. But before we do one other thing, I think we should hear about 1 brand that every golfer should have under their tree this year, Devro Golf. Yeah. So I just wanted to take a quick second to thank our new sponsor of the podcast, Devro Golf. 6:54 They're an Arizona based family owned golf apparel and accessories company that Sean and I have been huge fans of from afar. But now we're excited to be officially partnered with. They're going to be sponsoring us. We're going to be wearing them on the podcast. They're going to be giving all of you guys a 20% off discount code for the foreseeable future. 7:10 So you're going to head over to devrogolf.com. I'm going to spell it out for you. It's a little tough. It's DEVEREU xgolf.com and use Code Fair Wagers 20 to get 20% off your order today. All right, let's now review in reverse order what each of us want this holiday season. 7:26 So I'm going to actually pull up a picture of everything that we discuss here. So for anyone watching on YouTube, which I recommend you do, and subscribe if you guys haven't already, it really helps us out a lot. You can see what we're looking at and discussing, but otherwise we'll do a decent job on audio here describing TJ. 7:41 Do you wanna go first or do you wanna go second? I can go first. I will say I did not initially put these in an actual numerical order, but what I might what I might honestly do here is just go cheapest to most expensive and I think that's a good I think that's a good way to go. 7:59 So number one with no specific brand actually tied to it, players slash caddy golf towels. OK, I have been a recent convert of this in the last I would say six months as well. 8:22 Used to buy the micro fiber because that's what you get. They come with a nice designs. They could do all the fun things and all the fun colors. And right now they, I realized they don't clean clubs that well because they're so flat and they don't have any texture to them. 8:42 Like they don't actually get in like the grooves of your club. So you'd like wipe a club face clean with like a microfiber towel and then you'd still have to like go to town with a brush. So with a nice like knit towel. 8:58 Like I think I, I got some from Amazon. They held up OK in the last few weeks. Like I said, one of our partners, Devereaux Golf released a new Skull Caddy Players towel that is the nice knit. 9:14 The other thing about the micro fiber is if you're the guy who does 1/3 of the towel wet and likes to keep the wet towel from the beginning of the round. In hotter climates like Arizona or even the hotter days during here in San Diego, the towel is dry. 9:32 By like whole four. Oh yeah, for sure, for sure. I was gonna say. But no, no, like the micro fiber just doesn't want to, like it's built to be evaporative and it doesn't want to retain water. Whereas like a knit towel will give you a nice wet end to actually help clean the the dirt and mud off of a club face. 9:54 Yeah, I was going to say these towels were the towels I started out with before I went to the micro fiber, but now in my bag I have both because of what you described when I really need to clean. Something or have you ever had the shot where the mud kicks up on you after a mud shot? 10:12 Yeah. And you're like looking down at yourself. You're like, I got on my face and on my knees, whatever. Like those micro fiber towels don't do the trick. You got to use like a cloth towel or one of these knit ones to like actually get it off. So I have the Wildwood one on my bag right now. Shout out to Ryan at Wildwood. 10:30 And then I have a skull caddy one, but this one's sick. I love this one. Yeah, I, I love this towel. I will also say I usually do carry like a second smaller towel for greenside or I'll also use it for wiping my hands off 'cause I'm spraying on sunscreen. 10:49 Or if I get sunscreen on my hands, like, you know, if there's a world in which I need to actually use sunscreen that has to be applied with my hands, that's the that's the world in which we use it. Are you a towel with a ring already in it for a hook or no ring in the towel hell. 11:07 No, on a ring on the towel. I know that your Wildwood towel does have one I don't like. I don't like the towel with the ring, and I don't like the towel that's already like trifolded, which, yeah, your Wildwood one is all three. 11:25 It already is. I just don't. I don't like that look like it doesn't, I don't know, like doing wrong. I'm not a super like golf purist. And if you want to have a towel, have a towel. But for me, like I'm totally fine draping a towel over a club and letting it hang off of my bag. 11:44 Yeah, I see that. And it looks good too. Whenever I see a bag with the towel hanging like that and then you take it off and you throw it in the cart or you can put it over the basket in the back, You can do something like that with it doesn't need to hang from the bag. I know that it's like a better golfer's like, look and move. 12:02 So I know that it makes me at least appear to be a better golfer, that I know what the fuck I'm doing, which is about, you know, the most that I can actually do to try and become a better golfer. OK, so shameless plug, this is the one item on our list that there is a discount for it sounds like, right? 12:19 Correct. Use code Fair Rangers 20 to get 20% off that Devereaux Skull caddy towel. Yeah, we promised. There's no other plugs. No other plugs, nothing else on here. We got it right out of the way. Yeah. All right. I want to hear your fit. 12:36 OK my #5 this is also the cheapest on my list but trust me they aren't cheap. It's the title is Pro V1X golf ball. OK, let me explain. 12:51 I might you don't. Play a cheap golf ball like. I play a fricks and Q star not the Z star. The Q star comes in at like under 40 bucks. The Z star is more right? That's the equivalent. And recently I had my lowest round that I shot using balls I bought from a sleeve at presidio golf course and they were tailor made TP fives and I was like am IA tailor made guy now. 13:16 Like I couldn't figure out if I should be or not. Maybe that wasn't the reason of the difference, but all I know is all I know is when I do finally pony up the money or someone gets me a Titleist Pro V1 specifically, I've tried the left dash, I've tried the V1X and the V1. 13:34 For whatever reason, the V1X feels the best to me. It's got like a higher flight, which is like one of the signatures for it and man like it talk about like locking in when you're playing these balls. I just don't want to lose it. So I'm kind of like, hey, is driver the move on this hole? 13:52 Maybe it's 3 wood. You know, I I think about it just a little bit more because I don't want to go lose one of these balls as fast as the Strix and Q star where I'm like, yeah, I got a bunch of those in my bag. Yeah. Yeah, the the obviously if you're a golfer or if you're a golfer, you know that the Pro V is the gold standard of golf balls. 14:11 You usually have a good frame of reference on where your golf game is on the on if you should be playing with Pro V ones or not. I will stress if you are not a golfer and you have somehow stumbled upon this podcast, ask the person what golf balls they play before buying them golf balls. 14:32 Probably. Yeah. Like it's just you, you know, you, there's so many people and it's one of the things that are so specific. I have done the same thing that you have done. I did it at one point this year. I played a really good round with a tailor made tour response. 14:49 And I thought, this is it, this is my new Golf ball. And then I've proceeded to play really bad rounds with tailor made tour responses, right. So my, my game's obviously erratic. I don't think I I don't think golf ball necessarily matters as much in my game. 15:06 I do think consistency across what golf balls that you play matter, especially when it comes to short game and putting. You want to know how that ball reacts to the club faces. Especially for amateurs or mid to high handicappers, people who don't golf as much, they tend to just reach in the bag and grab whatever's in the pocket. 15:26 And if they're playing different balls, expect slightly different results, right? Yeah, obviously there's other things going on with their game that might be the leading cause of a different result. But my whole message here is treat yourself once in a while. You're worth it, baby. Like go give yourself a Pro V1X, see what it does. 15:44 And if somebody says that they do like proby ones, do not buy them the refurbished ones. It is like the most common. It is the most common golf ball that gets another golf ball painted over to look like. Correct. Correct. Yep. All right, that's my only. 16:02 Let's just say, Yeah, actually, I'm not going to say what I'm about to say because I don't want to tip my hand here. So let's go over to you. What's your #4 What's on your? List my #4 is the B29 blue brick. This is a training aid and it's a little Training aids are weird because I feel like training aids are either like less than $30 or they're more than $100. 16:31 And in a lot of instances, if you're going to spend more than $100 on a training aid, go see a swing coach. Go get a lesson right. What I do think that there are some things like this that help ingrain good behaviors in this is for I mean it's got a multitude of where you put the alignment sticks in the brick to help create some consistency within your swing. 17:00 It's realistically the big thing here is that you can jam an alignment stick in there and it's going to force you to not come over the top and it's going to help you shallow the club and repeatedly doing swings like that and just ingraining that behavior. 17:16 That's even something that you could do at home with one of these. Yeah, without hitting a ball even, you could just like put a mat down or something like that and see if you're hitting the the stick. Yeah, yeah. So yeah, you can, you can. This is a good training aid for at home with a club, no ball to where you can just really groove in that. 17:36 Out to in or Yeah, out. Yeah, out to in. See, I don't even know. That's why I need one of these. Well, yeah, out to in's going to be a bit of a fade, In to out's going to be more of a draw. And then obviously your angle of attack and all that. Oh goodness. 17:52 There's a whole lot more. Kind of doing here, so yeah. Yeah, yeah. So you just, I think I think it's a good, like I think it's a good training tool. I've seen a handful of people. I don't see them as much as I think people probably should be using them. Obviously you see a lot of people throw an alignment stick like in a in a basket or jam it in the ground, but obviously not every range. 18:16 Is. Grass, I think, I think also setting up like that angle a little bit and having consistency in that angle. You know, if you're just throwing a stick in a basket or throwing it in the ground, you might not be preserving that consistency or you might be coming in too high, too low. 18:34 You might get a little bias on how much of an angle you give yourself. Whereas giving yourself the same consistent angle every single time is probably going to yield some better results. I'll be honest, I didn't even know what this was when you said it. I didn't know where you're going with that B29, but this thing looks sick. 18:52 I mean, I think this could be something that is core to your muscle memory and repetition. And it's just something that, you know, you see players like Jordan Spieth or whatever do those right before they swing, they try and get into that shallow movement or they try and do something. 19:11 This feels like maybe it's like a hey, what's my action right when I do take away or when I come down. And then once you get that drilled in your head, you just go play it to the course. I I think it's one of those things where like if you just sat in here and hit half punch shots like 3:00 to 9:00 with this thing, I think you could change your golf swing and the way that your and your ball flight phenomenal. 19:33 OK, we haven't been saying prices on our thing. So the skull caddy towel was 38 but with our discount 20% off we the tile is probably 1X run your route 5055 bucks and then this one looks like it's 128 bucks. Yeah. OK. So like I said, that's that's that's around the price of a of an hour lesson. 19:52 If you've never seen a coach in your life, I would rather see somebody spend that $129 on going and seeing a coach. But if you have some flaws in your golf swing and you know kind of what you need to do, but you need to work on repetition and muscle memory like we've talked about, I think this is a great alternative at that same price point. 20:15 Yeah, I can see that. OK, great. I mean, this isn't where I thought we would start this. I mean, This is why I love this gift guide, because everyone's different, right? But these so far, these three, maybe the Pro V1X is kind of predictable, but the other two aren't so far. 20:31 So yeah. Let's hear it, OK #4 Sean. My #4 I don't think is predictable. I don't think anyone associates this with golf, but this is something that every golfer in your life who goes on trips, think Bandon Dunes. Think any of the courses where they might have to walk or they're doing multiple day trips. 20:50 Shout out to my millennials. You're over 35, you're probably going to want one of these things. It's the fair gun mini 2. Where my where my dad's at here. OK, so this is think of like the fair body massage guns. 21:08 You see them at Costco. You see people have those bigger ones. OK, those things are nice and they're really nice. I'm like you, you play band in one of those other courses. You're walking like 36 a day. Better believe at night. Like you kind of need one of these things, right? To just massage the legs, get the arms going. 21:25 But the hard part is like when you're packing all that stuff for a golf trip, it's like, where am I putting this in it? Am I going to put it through TSA or am I checking this with something else? This little mini gun fits in the pocket of your golf bag really easily. And it's not just for trips. 21:42 So like I've seen a guy. The reason I got this idea was I was at a range and this dude had this thing in his hand and he was just like sitting off to the side and just putting his leg out and doing this on his calf in his quad. I was like, that looks nice. Like I wish I had something like that right now. 21:58 They're they're great for a warm up as well. They will get blood flowing into the right places. So it's a good like substitute to get the muscles kind of ready in addition to stretching, piggybacking off of you know, I'm sure Nima's like, yes, I would love this. 22:16 This is great. Buy a massage gun like you should get one. Also like this is funny because admittedly we did abandoned in what? Was it 22 at this point or was it 23? 23, it was like 2 years ago, yeah. 23 it was two years ago and I was the guy who packed the vibrating foam roller and the massage gun and you benefited severely by being my roommate that trip. 22:42 And every night you'd be like, yo, let me see the gun like. I know. I mean, I wanted it right away. We would get back from dinner and you'd be like, yo, let me, are you going to use the gun right now? Like I need the gun. But I, I think that the smaller version, if I, if I did not already own one of these, that is the larger version. 22:59 And I don't actually, I don't technically, I don't usually mind packing it on the golf trip. Yeah, I would definitely opt for the elevated smaller version that that works well for your golf bag. Yeah, I mean, there's, there's people out there that have those like I don't know what they're called, but you, you wrap them around your legs and it puts pressure on your legs and it's like those like I think what they're called. 23:23 I mean, like, I know the brand that makes like the one that everybody buys is called Normatech. They're usually called like they're compression sleeves. But they exactly you could go. Far out with air, Yeah. You don't want to fly those anywhere. You do not want to travel with those. No, this is something that's super simple and you could do this in the airport even. 23:40 But I mean, trust me, I'm of the age where I need this kind of stuff now. My warm up still includes a warm up, but it might also include, you know, popping a little ibuprofen here and there and there. This this little bad boy is going to run you 149 bucks so. 23:59 OK, OK, well, that piggyback's great because my third item is $150.00. OK, it's going to be the Forrester Range hoodie. I got one of these earlier this year, and I have been almost clamoring for bad weather to actually break this thing out from Jones. 24:28 Well, so Jones, I believe, bought the four stores. Forrester is a older, more traditional outerwear company from the Pacific Northwest. Jones, I think, bought the license or worked to acquire the license. 24:47 Either way, I think they're sitting within the Jones Sport Co umbrella now up in the Pacific Northwest where stuff like this is much needed. It is. The outer is fully waterproof. What's very nice about this hoodie is it has like a very soft waffle knit inside. 25:07 It's extremely light but also still warm and like rain resistant. Like the rain still beads up on the outside and just rolls right off. Few other good features to note on it. 25:24 Slightly cuffed sleeves, like the top of the sleeve sits flat and then the cuff is on the underside, so they sit a little snug on your wrist, but it's not fully cuffed all the way around to where it feels like restrictive or like pulls up. You know, like sometimes when you wear cuff sleeves on a long sleeve, it pulls up and then it stays up. 25:44 Yeah, you do your swing and then it stays up past your wrist and then you're. This doesn't do that because it's got the top side so it doesn't scrunch all the way around, which is really nice. I like to think there was like a board meeting where they were like exactly what you just said and they go, but this one doesn't do that. 25:59 And everyone's like, oh. Yeah. So it's like it's almost like 2/3 of the way around the wrist is like not cuffed and there's like a little scrunchy piece on the inside. So it's really nice, OK, super comfortable zippered closures on the the kangaroo pocket in the front. 26:15 And then it comes in a variety of really good looking colors. I know like also bringing it back to Ryan up at Wildwood, Ryan just did a run of these with the Wildwood logo on them up in the pro shop. So I think he did like I know he did the black one for sure. 26:34 I'm not sure if he did the other one, but he did the black one with like the Wildwood logo on the sleeve. And yeah, the the colors are really cool. They did for their first like launch, like this is their first actual season back and for the first full run of it, everything was like a color story. 26:51 So they made hats that match the that match. Like there's a matching hat to every hoodie which was, which is. Super. Oh, that's nice. That's tight. Yeah. I like this little, like the drawstrings going in, the little clasp in the front where the logo is. 27:07 I mean, meant for golf. Just thinking about that, you're leaning over forward and you don't want the drawstrings to be in your field of vision or hanging just straight down. So that's a nice little touch like. Yeah. And then they don't. We're like putting them back in every time, but I. 27:22 Kind of it's, I don't think, I don't know if I've actually gone and swung in this hoodie. I know I've worn the hoodie like around the house. I know I wore it to like, take the trash out in the rain the other day because I don't really have rain gear, being a Arizona native who now lives in Southern California. 27:39 But I would say that I don't think they come out of the out of the little. I, I mean, it also serves as their logo on there, but I don't think they actually come out. Like, I don't think you have to tuck it back in there. I think if you throw them in there, they built it high enough up on it to where they will stay tucked in. 27:56 OK. So yeah, it's like a, it's like a, yeah, I, I, I think, like I said, this was one of the ones that this was the other one that I already own. But I think it's an upgrade to what somebody already probably has. I, I, I stand by it for sure. 28:14 And they're, they're doing some great stuff up there. OK. If there was a Navy 1, you know, I'd be all over that. That's like my color. But I'm here to tell you, TJ, I'm kind of starting to become a sand tan guy. Like I know I'm not wearing it right now, but the other day I went and bought something nice for myself. 28:33 We had an anniversary and we went out to Kierland and you know, all the stores out there are really nice. We walked in a Malbone store and I immediately fell out of my element. I was looking at everything. I was like, oh, I can't afford any of these things. You know, this is stupid. 28:49 But also at the same time, I'm like, but they look cool. And so cash not knowing the golf world that well was like, this is interesting. I've never seen a store like this, like this doesn't feel like a golf store. And I was like, well, that's kind of like their thing. And I was explaining it to her and she's like, are you happy with these things? 29:07 And I was like, no, like, I don't. I'm not particularly interested in. She's like, well, I saw something over at the Viori store and I was like, oh God, that's going to be even more money. But we wanted, we wanted to treat ourselves to something for our anniversary. We each were going to get one thing. 29:23 So I never spent that money. I went over to Viori and I found something and it was in this color. And I put it on and I was like, I'm feeling myself. And then cash was like, yeah, this is nice. So from that point on, I've already had two more shirts I've bought, like long sleeves, same type of color. 29:39 Might be this guy. You know, maybe I'll, I'll let you own, I'll let you own the, the dune slash sand colorways of, of shirts. Cause anything that I've ever bought that's in this color immediately just washes out with along with my skin. So yeah, as a as a as a light skinned fellow, I don't think I'll be picking this one up here soon. 30:02 I get dibs on this color. Yeah, all yours, brother. Cool. I like that. That's a solid 1. Even better if it's from Jones. We love Jones and all our P&W brothers. Yeah, Ancestors. Yeah. So. Yeah, yeah. Speaking of, you know, living in the desert, not having the rain appropriate gear, also coming in at 150 bucks. 30:29 And don't judge me on this because I know you're a big shoe guy, but I like the foot Joy Hyperflex 2020. Oh boy. I know OK, they're not the most stylish, but neither am I That's OK. These things, I've worn them, they are super comfortable, they have great support. 30:48 They dig into the ground, which is what I want when I'm doing my swing. Most importantly though, I went on a recent trip to San Francisco and it was rainy slash like foggy and the grass is super wet and my other shoes just didn't cut it. I went into the pro shop and I was like, am I going to be that guy that buys brand new shoes at a pro shop? 31:10 And yes, in fact, I was, I was the guy at TPC Harding Park of all places. And they had a college day where scouts and all these players were trying to get basically get discovered by scouts and recruited to colleges. 31:29 And so I was the last group to go out before all these scouts and the recruits went out. And I'm like running. I'm like, I don't have the right shoes. My shoes from the day before were so disgusting from my round of Presidio. And they had a pair of these in my size. 31:44 And I was like, I'm just going to pull the trigger. And I bought them. It felt amazing. Like I felt so comfortable walking the course that day. None of the moisture got in. And now they're probably one of my favorite pairs of shoes I've owned. So say what you owe about the designs, but I'm a fan of the Footejoy Hyperflex. 32:01 I mean, I'll say Footejoy is still like the gold standard in golf shoes if you ask me. Don't get me wrong, I love some Nikes that I have. I love some Adidas that I have. Heck, I might even have another golf brand in this list. But I still think that, like, ultimately you really can't go wrong with foot Joyce. 32:22 Everything that they make is still just so good. Yeah. And they they nailed the designs too. Like, premieres are still one of the best looking golf shoes ever created. Like, yes, they they they know what they're doing because I think they realistically just start with the bottom of the shoe first. 32:41 Yeah. And then build up and say the rest of it is whatever. Deal with a nice shoe. Oh, darn, you're really comfy. Shoe doesn't look that good. Well, I mean, and this is like going back to the gift guide and like, if you know, we're going to send this to people who if any of our listeners want to send this to a loved one or someone that's like, hey, you know, I'd also love golf shoes. 33:01 Obviously everyone probably has the biggest opinion on shoes above all other clothing that they're wearing that day besides hats, which are a dime a dozen. But everyone's got a million of those probably listening to this pod. At least 72. Yeah, we know you have a shit done. 33:17 So the like aesthetics are going to be obviously very subjective. So if you're going to give someone a gift card to go get shoes or something like that, that might be a good option. But if you're trying to play it safe and actually get something for them that you think they might wear, like this is a great option. 33:32 I think for something that's like perfect in the middle ground, it's not it doesn't skew one way or the other too far in terms of like dialing up to aesthetics or dialing up to only comfort. It's not like AG four or something else that you know. I would definitely don't recommend on this list unless you have. 33:48 It Well, let's transition into my #2 on this list. It's gonna be No, I was gonna. I was like, you're not. Doing this to me, I know you're. Not I have heard, I have heard really good things about G4 Gallivanters, but that's not what we're here to talk about today. 34:06 Today we are talking about the golf shoe world's latest darling painters. We're gonna talk about the Painter 87, OK. Or you can also look at the Match day. This is Jason Day's shoe of choice right now. 34:25 This is what Jason Day is wearing to play PGA Tour events. The shout out Kevin shout out Kevin Surreal AKA Jason Day. The 87 is the spiked version. The match day is the spikeless version. 34:41 Same same upper just a little bit different of a bottom. I love the look of these shoes. I think they are so sick. I love painters really simple logo. The XI think this is just a good clean white shoe with a little bit minimal of black trim on it. 35:05 I've heard nothing but rave reviews about the comfort associated with painter. Like I know Clay who was on Esquire golf on the podcast works very closely with them. 35:21 He's had nothing but wonderful things to say about them. Funny enough, they just did a full, I guess, waterproof shoe with Forrester. It's Co branded. Yeah. 35:37 So it's got like a there's a lacing system and then there's a full zipper that comes up over the top to cover up the all the laces and keep it fully waterproof. So there's that. I know that they've done they did ball markers with Dane over at matchstick. 35:54 Like painter is very Scott Brooks, PNW golfer who has been on the pod as well, also just shot stuff with them. So it's it's a very well connected brand for the podcast. But I just, I love the look of them and I can't stop hearing enough good things about shoes. 36:14 I don't like the black looking ones though to be honest. No I will. I'm not an all black shoe guy. Period. No, this is like a weird Phil Mickelson look for some reason to me. You know, if I'm being completely honest with you and the listener at home, as a nearly 6 foot tall man, I have smaller feet from my size. 36:33 I run about like a 1010 1/2 and black makes your feet only look even smaller. So I just hate the way that my we in high school, we used to wear black shoes is like our team shoes for like basketball and football, and I like hated it. I hated it so much because it made my feet look so small. 36:51 So you. I'm sorry, it's just funny to me that like walking around a golf course or anywhere, you never know what someone is self-conscious about at that moment. I never in a million years would guess that you're self-conscious about the size of your shoe because you're wearing a black shoe. 37:10 I I'm not, I'm not. I'm not necessarily self-conscious about the actual size of my shoe. No, but I think it's yeah, but. Yeah. Like it just makes me look like I have smaller feet and then I like, I feel like my proportions just look weird. I like the shoes though. This looks nice. 37:27 It's I'm, I'm very much anticipating picking up a pair of these soon or I'm heading to the PGA Show next month. So I'm very much looking forward to at least maybe being able to at least try a pair on in person and talk to them and say, Oh yeah, these are the real deal. 37:45 OK, $220, is that the going rate? OK. That's the going rate. We're going up in price here a little bit. That's yeah, that's like I said, I didn't, I didn't that I wasn't planning on going that way, but then it just, it just figured out to work that way. 38:01 OK, let's go up in price quite a bit. We're going to get to my #2 here. Oh boy. We're going to go to the vessel hard case for travel. This is going to set you back about 450 bucks, all right. 38:22 Oh man. Oh, hey, first. Little price on your golf. Clubs First off, this went through the my golf spy reviews and a few others on YouTube and it is confirmed that it works with basically any bag. You don't have to have a vessel bag to fit into this. 38:38 OK, yeah, it does have the cushion at the top for your iron or, excuse me, your woods, your driver, everything else. So they don't rattle around, essentially, they sit snug in there. But I'll be honest, it's not like a bag with like all these hidden pockets or anything like that. 38:58 No, no, no. It's literally, it looks like it could hide A trombone. It's meant to be one thing, and that's to not get damaged by the guys at the airport. And trust me, if you've ever sat on a window seat and you've seen those golf bags out there, they are getting tossed, thrown around. 39:15 Not to mention the bag I have right now, like it's one of those soft backs that folds pretty easily when that thing comes down at Sky Harbor from the shoot. I don't know if it's Sky Harbor in particular, but bags seem to just fly down. There is no oversized luggage area at Sky Harbor. 39:34 Everything comes down the same chute and those things always come down face 1st. And I just see the babies. Just my little like driver head and everything else just go boom right against the rail. And I immediately check my bag to see if anything's broken. This thing would take care of all that for me. 39:50 And you'll see I have a bit of a golf trip theme going here so far. OK, Got waterproof shoes, I got the hard case cover, I got the fair gun that you can pack inside the bag. And new pro VS Yeah, man, this is the thing. This is what I really really want. OK, I have a few points here. 40:07 One, love, love, hard case. Love the idea of a hard case, as in it is the best protection available for your golf clubs and you are protecting your investment. You don't want to skimp if you didn't skimp on your golf clubs. You don't want to skimp on the thing that protects your golf clubs. 40:24 It's like getting, it's like getting a nice car and then having shitty insurance. You're not going to do that. So having the hard case and having it be protected at the top is is great. A few things to note here, maybe if you're also not going to go with a hard case or you have a soft case that only has the little pads at the top. 40:43 Few things you have removable driver or fairway wood heads. Always take the heads off your clubs. Put them in grip down or like head down grip sticking out of the club and put the heads somewhere else. 41:00 Wrap them in a towel, stick them in the side of your bag, put them in your carry on, put them in your luggage. Like, don't let the heads of your Golf Club be the first thing that could make the most impact. I wanna say I wanna say that is not the official policy of must play here. 41:17 I do not subscribe to this because I'm lazy and I'm not taking off the driver ahead before I go put that thing in there. I'll admittedly say. I'll admittedly say I did this on the last golf trip I took. We went to Tahoe for my bachelor party in July. 41:36 In a not paying attention moment I just slapped the shaft of the head back on the driver and I think I had all of the sleeves messed up. So I think it messed up the way that I was hitting my driver and my grip was upside down. 41:58 I'm saying like with my head, things that could go wrong and I'm like I don't wanna mess with it. The other one that I will say is if you have an extra towel, still wrap a towel around your eyes. That's a big. One I do that. Yeah, that way it'll. 42:14 But all in for the hard case. I think the only thing that kind of sucks about a hard case is just like storing it right. And then also there's no there's no other pockets. So like it only protects the golf clubs, right? Like it it, it just fits your bag. You can't put your shoes in there. 42:30 You can't weasel in any of your other golf accessories. You could sneak in shoes, maybe at the top around the driver or something, but yeah, you're not really putting them in here. The nice thing about this, though, is that it stands up. So like, my bag currently doesn't do this. It just stands up by itself. 42:46 I always got to lay it down and it's got the TSA lock and everything else. But yeah. All right, let's hear your number one. Item here. All right, so number one on my list and you can try and do your best to spell it out here on Google and pull it up, but it's the Milici gene pro G1 I'm. 43:11 Just searching gene pro G1. It is a range Finder, but this range Finder is a little different. You might be seeing it. It's it's it's having a hot, hot moment on Instagram. I think they're actually starting to roll out a lot more of their marketing right now. This thing's got a full blown screen and GPS built into it. 43:32 Yeah. So it's got 43,000 courses loaded into it. So you can actually like pull up the entire whole layout or the green complex on the screen on the side of the range Finder. Whoa. And it's a it's so it's a touch screen so, so much like how you're trying to look at like the numbers of the front of a bunker, the back of a bunker, the back of the green. 43:56 What's it to this on the green you can touch and and it will show you all the yardages when you touch it. OK. So it's got that, it's obviously got, you know, it's got a slope button on there for Malosi to adjust it whether you want it on or not. 44:12 Malosi just feels like milady. Milady Also here's another nice one that I think not everything always comes with when you buy it. You don't have to pay for access to the courses. I know sometimes when you buy AGPS watch or a tablet or whatever, you have to pay a monthly subscription to have access to the GPS not here. 44:38 And I know these are preloaded. So if they change anything or you know, if a if a brand new course opens up, it's probably not going to be on there. The other feature that this range Finder has that I absolutely love is the triangulation. So on a cart path only day you hit your drive out onto the right side of the rough because you're me, you're in the car path on the left side and you're like damn, I'm going to have to carry 4 clubs out there based upon this number because I don't know what that number is going to be when I get out there. 45:15 Not with this guy. Shoot the ball, shoot the flag, and it triangulates the distance between the two of them. I've seen this feature on some. Yeah, that's sick. Yeah, I like that. There's a few other ones that have that. And I was like, man, this would if for some reason also, I just feel like I just played a lot of golf in like cart path only. 45:34 Yeah, when we 'cause we played a handful of rounds with Arizona coming out of overseeding and then I played like Torrey Pines, like right after they scalloped it, that was also cart path only. And I was getting just in my head. I'm just real sick of carrying my clubs all the way across the fairway. 45:50 Yeah. So this is this is pro, but this guy is pricey. Yeah, what's this running us here? You got to scroll back up here, 400. Yeah, that's that. That sounds about right. I mean less than my hard case. 46:07 Less than your, less than your hard case and you're, you're, you're all in. It's done here, right? It's not. It's not like a lot of traditional other GPSS where you're kind of on the hook for for a subscription. I know the the real tough thing here is you spend $400.00 on a range Finder, you better not leave it stuck to the side of the Dang cart. 46:28 Oh no dude, sorry to put him on blast here but Jones is the worst at leading range finders. I think he's lost like four or five of them. And and he never buys cheap ones. He's always losing like a Bush now. Yeah, just putting them on the side of the cart. 46:47 But anyway. Assume that if you spent $400.00 on something even 300. For me, if I'm buying any brand name range Finder like I there's, I'm doing everything in my power to make sure I never leave it on a golf cart. I mean, I talked about how $55 box of Titleist Pro V1X. 47:05 You're worried about one ball. You're worried about a five. You're worried about a $4.75 golf ball? I mean, my, my list here, I told you at the top is very expensive. And it's because it's all the things I'm never willing to pay for myself to go get. Yeah, but this looks I like this a lot. 47:23 I've never heard of this brand either so this is cool. They are. They are almost brand new. I know I, I have only heard of them in the beginning of this calendar year and they are just even more recently within the last I think month or two really starting to make a push in terms of at least on social media in terms of working with influencers and pushing them in front of more people. 47:47 But I think, I think you'll, I think I think you'll hear a lot more or you've heard probably everything through this holiday season, but I think you'll hear a lot more in 2026 from from what, from what I'm hearing from some other influencers. Cool. OK. All right, you ready for my #1? 48:03 Let's let's hear Sean Massey's number one. If you're going in terms of pricing, if this thing's more expensive than a than a $450 vessel hard case, I don't know what it could be. It is it is baby this you know, this is just an everyman pod. 48:22 This is what every guy wants. All right, so everyone listening, you know what you're going to want for yourself. You're going to want this and it's it's going to run you $750. It is the new Scotty Cameron Phantom Black 7. 48:44 I know everyone has their moment of weakness where they go into a store and they try one of those putters and they're like, oh, maybe I'm a mallet guy, or maybe I'm a blade guy or Oh, I've saw, you know, JJ win with the lab and or you play with people who play labs and you're like, maybe there's something to the lie angle balance. 49:07 I've I've been there, I've done that. I like my putter currently, but if I had the choice, if someone was like, I'm going to take you to the Scotty Cameron store, which coincidentally is in Encinitas, the pro shop, one right across from Bird Rock. 49:24 And when we did our San Diego trip pod, I talked about how I always stay in Encinitas. I do a lot of window shopping at Scotty Cameron. Plus I go in there whenever I have the chance. And I have a quick story on Scotty Cameron. May have told you this or maybe not, but I went early one morning and Scotty Cameron pro stop doesn't open until like later in the morning. 49:44 And I was there at Bird Rock at probably like 7. And I get my coffee, I walk over to the windows and I'm looking inside and they got these displays and stuff. And as I'm walking back, Colin Morikawa was walking past me in a hoodie with a putter in his hand. 50:01 And he went over to the door and I just turned and I didn't have any words. I just stared, frozen. And they unlocked the door and they let Colin in and he did whatever he was doing over there at the store. Which is which is interesting because Colin is famously A tailor made athlete. 50:20 Well, doesn't mean he can't go in there and, you know, Tinker. No. Or I mean, he probably gets to sit down and talk with Scott and figure and try and figure something out, you know? Either way though, so this phantom black, First off, they make a regular like titanium silver looking one, but the black one, I just think it looks sleek. 50:41 This one's got like the same type of balance, like it's every all the reviews say it's like putting like butter and it gives you this feeling of like you're eliminating all the variables and you're really just relying on do you have the right pace and right line, which is kind of the point of labs a high Moi on this one. 51:05 The shaft is kind of not they they have a couple options with different models with with a center shaft. This one's got like a double bend. That's kind of what I like more, just sits better in my line or my eye. But I just love the look of this thing and God man, if I could roll up with one of these things, confidence would be through the roof on the green. 51:27 Yeah, I will say I did almost slap a lab on here. I am. I am of the mindset that I think A0 torque butter it. I, I talk about variables all the time when we talk about golf swings and, and, and your mentals and all of that. 51:47 And I think if I can, if I, the, the more of those that I can remove from my brain and my, and my thought process, the better. So I am all on board with A0 torque putter. I think that at the it's, it's unfortunate that I picked up a new putter last year and have been, I won't say forcefully using it, but I've definitely been leaning more into that putter and forcing myself to use it because it is new as opposed to going out and getting a new one. 52:14 Yeah, well, I actually don't even think I've gone to like a PGA Tour Superstore and it is zero torque butter, let alone. This one's not zero torque, by the way, just to clarify, so no one can come at me in the comments, but it it's playing up to that trend of I feel like a lot of pros are leaning towards more mallet style right now. 100. 52:32 Percent and you know, they saw it fix Scotty's putting woes. They see the labs getting popular. We talked about this on the pod with Shane. I just think, yeah, in general, it's kind of the way things are leaning. But yeah, man, I just, I don't know. 52:47 I also in my dream I get one of these and I go I'm like, hey, I'm going to go get it customized and I go spend even more money to go get something customized on my Scottie camera. Yeah, it's you turn a $750 putter into a $950 putter. I know, I know, it's stupid but. 53:03 Getting a getting a Scottie paint filled. And yeah, it's no, I, I, I mean, I think, and like you said, the, the confidence that you feel with a, with a nice expensive putter like this is, is through the roof. And we all know that putting is super mental. 53:18 I've in, in conversations that I've had with other golfers, we've talked about where I don't think it really necessarily matters once you're above like probably like a 200 or a $250 putter all the way up to like 800. Like it's, it's definitely the Archer and not the not the arrows like, but there is definitely a placebo effect or a, you know, a, a correlation, but between new equipment and feeling better about it and playing better like that's. 53:49 Oh, is there is there any better feeling than just grabbing? You have a new club in the bag, you go out to the course and you just get to go show it off and play it. And it's like it doesn't even matter if it doesn't go well because you feel confident that you're going to figure it out. If it didn't go well, like well I got the best permanent bag. 54:05 Yeah, new driver, new putter, like stuff like that where it's like either you're striping it well or you're or you're putting well and you go, Oh yeah, it's cuz I got a new one, this new one exactly. Or you're not hitting it well and you go, that's fine. It's new. I haven't figured it out yet. 54:22 You have, yes, you can do whatever you want it and you're fine. You're absolutely fine. You're absolutely justifying the purchase. Regardless, you have removed the doubt that it's the equipment. So you're like, well, it must be me now. So that's hey Elise, I'm checking things off the list. 54:39 We'll work on it. Less. Variables either way. OK, so our lists were, you know, they had some similarities, but some differences. Obviously everyone has a million things that should have made this list. I personally would love it. 54:55 For those who listen, please leave us a comment anywhere you listen to this. I'm just really curious what you think should have made the list. Maybe in the future when we do our New Year's goals, we talk about maybe looking back and like, look at the comments and go, what were some honorable mentions that we should have had on here? 55:13 Yeah. Yeah, I, I definitely have a lot of things that were, that were left off this list or things that I already own that I, that I love. You know, maybe, maybe someday we'll do a, we'll do a ode to things we love, a love letter to products that we love. 55:30 And we just talk about our favorite versions of, of all of the base level of products. You know, what's your, you know, what's your favorite brush? What's your favorite towel? What's your favorite golf tee? What's your favorite glove? What's your favorite hat? Like polo. And we promise we won't just jam down whoever's paying us at that moment down your throats the whole time. 55:50 We will in a little bit, but not the whole. All right, I think that wraps us up. If you guys listen to this podcast on Spotify or Apple, please, if you wouldn't mind, leave us a review or rate US five stars. That helps quite a bit. And we are also over on YouTube if you want to go watch some of the photos that we put up during this pod. 56:11 And just a little teaser, we are going to be releasing a website here soon, so we'll have even more information for you guys following each episode. So look out for that for the end of the year hopefully. Thank you so much for listening. Perfect, man. 56:28 TJ, good luck with your holiday season. Hopefully Ashley hears some of these things. Yeah. Happy holidays. Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Festivus, whatever you celebrate, whatever, whatever floating spaghetti monster you observe in the sky, may you have a happy holidays. 56:48 Perfect ending.
