This week on Must Play: Bonus Round, we’re holding ourselves accountable and setting the tee sheet for 2026. First up: the 2025 recap. At the start of last season, we each identified three courses we absolutely had to play. In this episode, we review how that actually went for both of us. Spoiler: it did not go well for T.J.

Then comes the main event: the 2026 golf courses.

Each of us pitches three Must Play golf courses for this year, following strict rules, and fits into one of three buckets:

  • The Heavy Hitter: a high-end or nationally known track
  • The Value Find: a muni or hidden gem
  • The Wildcard: something unique, weird, or sneaky with “Mustie” potential

From Certified Must Play golf courses candidates to under-the-radar surprises, this episode is all about building the ultimate 2026 golf roadmap. And this time, we’re putting the final decision in your hands. You’ll help decide which course we have to play this year.Let the campaigning begin.

0:00 I got a little liquored up on the train. Come home. I'm excited to see my wife, my dog. Also, how cool is how cool is taking your clubs on a golf train a golf train? Jesus Christ. What percent is that fistful of gummies? Only 5%. 0:27 Today I must play TJ and I have a good one for you guys. Today we are going to be talking about 3 courses each that we think we need to go make a trip to in 2026 and we're going to let you, the audience, ultimately pick at least one that we absolutely have to go make a voyage to. We're also going to be reviewing some of our courses that we set out for our 2025 goals and whether or not we hit those and what excuses do we have if we did first. 0:51 TJ, how you doing? I'm great. Sean, guess what? Your time. It's a beer day on a podcast day. Cheers, brother. Got a nice what have I got? What have I got here? I've got a nice small beer. Shout out to Mason, the boys over at Small 2 1/2 percent Sunday. 1:07 It's the Lord. 'S day. I usually don't drink on the Lord's Day, but if it's under 3 1/2 percent, I'm allowed to have it. He looks the other way when it's under 3. Squad does not judge. I have a Fistful of Gummies sour beer from Second Chance, a San Diego brewery I know you're familiar with. 1:23 One of my favorites, one of my. Favorite sour beers? Soon we will be hopefully drinking a different type of beer when we start doing some more live broadcast. And then we just ripped our first one today. What'd you think? I had a great time. I, I started off solo and I will say ripping one solo by yourself to not a lot of people can be alarming. 1:46 You, you, you, sometimes you get lost on a different screen. I'd, I'd go to send a text to somebody or check a, an Instagram chat that was popping off and forget that the other screen was streaming me for 5 minutes, not saying a word out loud. So you, you got it. 2:02 It's, it's a, it's a different muscle. The same way that a podcast muscle is one thing, or how you record content for Instagram is another muscle, live stream is also another different muscle to develop. Those other ones that you have developed will help with that, but it's different. 2:20 Yeah, I bet. Luckily you came in in the middle of it. You saved me. You saved me in the middle of it and gave me gave me someone to to feed off. Of I, I pulled up my phone and I saw you live and I was like, Oh my God, I had foam insulin. And I realized I'm part of this too. So I just texted you and I was like, I wanna sign in right now. 2:36 That was fun. Yeah. Let's get into today, though. Yeah, so how this came about, we get a lot of comments on our YouTube videos when you always post. Where do you guys want to see us review next? And the reason that we are unable to post more must play reviews is because you and I have to go play something together. 2:54 We don't like to review course if we haven't played it. And there's only so many out here or out there that we get a chance to do so Hopefully this year that gets a lot better. But we're putting our foot down and we're going to say no. We have three courses at least that we need to go hit here in 2026. And I asked you to come with a course that fits three different categories. 3:13 So there's going to be the first category called the heavy hitter. This is a high end or a famous track. So hopefully we each have a course that fits that bill. The second one being the value find. This is like a local muni diamond in the rough, something that might be good value on one of our, you know, bang for your buck test, for example. 3:31 And then the third one is the wild card. And this is a course with a weird history specific musty potential. It could be for any reason, honestly, it could be something that you double up on, but one course from each of those, Hopefully we don't pick the same courses. If we do, I got something loaded here in the back pocket. 3:49 I mean, gosh, if we end up picking the same one, I think that just means that that's. What? Automatically gets added on to the three that we have to do, right? True, true. But again, we'll let the audience vote, and I think we'll be doing that through a poll and we'll let people select which one We absolutely have to go hit, but. 4:08 Before or if we don't get yo get into the sponsor, Let's see. I wanna hear, I wanna hear who's who's taking care of us today? Well, you're wearing them right there. So before we get into it, you're gonna hear from a sponsor for today, Devro Golf. This episode of Must Play is brought to you by Devro Golf in their brand new Spring 26 release dubbed The Westward Collection. 4:26 If your golf wardrobe needs a reset, then this is the time to act. The Western Collection brings clean SW inspired knit polos and lightweight layers that are going to work on the course, at the range or even wherever you're heading after your round. And don't sleep on the accessories either. Deborah's hats and leather head covers are some of the best round. 4:43 They're the kind that instantly upgrade any bag or outfit. Also their shirts. They feel incredible without feeling sloppy and the socks are just all day comfortable whether you're walking 18 or just walking your dog. It's a new season. It's time for a new direction. The westward collection from Devro golf over on devrogolf.com. 5:02 Use code fair wagers 20 to always get 20% off your orders. See out there. All right, before we get into the what we're going to be doing in 2026, let's first review 2025. We each set out to play 3 courses in 2025 individually and I believe if you want to start, you didn't do so hot. 5:22 If we want to keep this segment real brief, we can. I set out to play three different courses in 2025 and I didn't play any of those courses. The three courses that I had on my list to play last year were Quintero in technically Peoria, yes, Aviara, which is over here in Carlsbad, and then Sandpiper, which is up in, it's just north of Lai. 5:51 Got to none of these. Coletta. Yeah, I got to none of these. We can blame the fact that I got married last year and the schedule was jam packed. We can blame the fact that you live on the opposite side of the Phoenix metropolitan area of Quintero and I stay in Scottsdale every time I come out. 6:10 So the drive is not super enticing for either of us to say, yeah, let's go play Quintero. But yeah, I mean, you realistically, we just got a, we got a hand up on this one here. That's just on me. I, I'm going to be honest, the same way that we talked about on the on the goals pod where you talked about tracking 15 green and regs during a round. 6:31 I forgot about most of these. This is completely wiped. Yeah, you just like there's too many other things to think about, especially when you got all the other life events going on. Yeah, I mean, if I had wedding brain for over half the year last year and it it didn't life didn't necessarily slow down after that. 6:48 Most of the golf that I played after that was somewhat ended up just being golf that was very convenient to me. So I did. I, I will say all of these still, I would say still roll over into the 2026 courses that I want to play. These these did not go away, but for the sake of actually having material for today's podcast, I chose 3 new courses. 7:09 I didn't just I didn't just run back these three. I didn't do what we did with like some of the goals and just said not F it. We're just going to we need to get these done. 3 fresh new courses for 2026. But just know these other three are still on the back burner and can still be be pushed in but you guys will not be voting on. 7:27 These, well, they might make my list. OK. Well then let's, I mean, I think there's no cleaner transition then to talk about yours. Well, First off, 2025 I had Goat Hill, Rams, Hill, Gamble Sands. Proud to say that we had two of those. 2 for three Rams Hill. 7:45 Trip with Josh and Kevin and that was amazing. We stayed at the house right there on the hill off 15. Great time. I think that was one of the drunkest I've seen TJ that night. Oh my gosh, I was. 8:01 And also maybe the most hungover I've ever been. The next day. But nothing better than when every guy gets their own bedroom on the golf trip. Like you can just individually wake up on your own time and not worry about it. That's so good. Yeah, like our, our tee time wasn't until like 10:30 the next day. 8:19 So we didn't have to like get up and get after it. You know, when you, when you've played golf the day before, you're not worried about getting out to the range early either. You're like, ah, played yesterday. I'll be fine. Let's get out, roll a few putts and let's let's get after. It Yeah, if you haven't listened to the Rams Hill pod that we recorded, we recorded it live from the house there. 8:40 No, do go back and watch it. I won't spoil it for you. It's one of the, it's one of my favorite conversations, honestly, Like the the level of humor that both of those guys brought to the combos. It's, I will say that was the, yeah, that was the, the most openly drunk we've been on a podcast. 8:57 Yeah. The, the, the, I think my, I think I would be fine with how that podcast came out if the audio wasn't just all over the place. That was the hardest part. It's not our finest work. It was the first time doing 4 guys 2 microphones. Yeah. And we will not be doing that ever again. 9:15 We will. We will. I can assure you that if we do a four man podcast in person in the future, we will have microphones for each person. Oh, I might consult Greg for a little bit of advice next time we try and RIP something live. For sure, for sure. Goat Hill, you know, I'll spoil that one. 9:32 It's our highest scoring course so far on the must play test. Scored a 8 out of 10. Did that with Andrew Zanzig and that was one of my favorite pods too. So that was a great course and then Gamble Sands, we tried to get out there. Your wedding got in the way of this one, if I can be so. 9:48 Bold. I don't think it was the wedding. I think it was bachelor party. The tentative, the tentative weekend that we looked at doing Gamble Sands was like a week after or two weeks after my bachelor bachelor party. Yeah. And there was just no, there was no possible way we could ask all of our wives and girlfriends to to pull that off. 10:06 No, I have to do this. It was in my list for 2025. Sweet. Babe, I have to check off all three courses. I said I was going. To play. Two people are holding me accountable. All right, well, let's transition to 2026. 10:23 How about that? I, I I'm down. I'm I'm excited for 2026, 'cause I do you wanna go? 1st or do you wanna go second? Let me, let me, let me drop this heavy hitter on you first, right? Please. My heavy hitter is actually a course that I have already played, but I did not finish due to darkness. 10:44 It's a course that you and I have talked about going and playing before. And I think that once you live closer this, this is much more attainable for us to do. I know, OK. PGA West Stadium Course, famously home of the American Express. 11:02 The why for me is I I got to finish this round. We finished seventeen holes and and then it if you've ever been to Palm Springs, as soon as the sun goes behind the mountains, it's black, it's done. You're you're you're done, you're cut off. 11:19 We tried to play 18 in the dark with cell phone lights and whatnot and it just did not happen. So I really want to get this one done, but I also really want to put this one to the must play test with you. Obviously it's very cool to play a PGA Tour golf course, of course where they play an actual tournament, one of the most pure golf courses and also one of the most tough golf courses I've ever played. 11:44 It is not. You've played a lot of desert golf and it doesn't feel like desert golf out there like a lot of the courses in Palm Springs, La Quinta, the surrounding areas kind of do. This one is just if you're off the fairways, it's it's crazy, man. 12:01 Admittedly, I also want to get back out to 17 out to Alcatraz and, and, and, and, and probably not put one in the water like I did last time. I think, I think honestly, I don't even think we played finish 17 cuz I think I hit one, I put it in the water and then I hit one out of the drop zone and I put it in the water again and I was like, we're done here, hang it up. 12:20 It's gonna be dark anyway. We're not gonna finish this round. You know, that's what I was gonna ask you is did you avoid the drop area or did you not? OK, so you put it. No, I definitely. Dude, that thing is narrow. Yeah, it is. It is not very deep like it is. 12:36 It is way, way smaller, especially like optically, because I think if you play it from the whites, you're you're not super elevated above it. So obviously when you look at things on a similar level to you that it doesn't look like they have a ton of depth to them. 12:52 It looks very flat and very short. If you play it from the further back T's, there's a little hill up on like the back right that you go up on. And I'm like, I remember I played it with Blake, who's obviously been on the podcast a handful of times. And we talked about how his tee shot was a lot more optically pleasing because you can look down at the green and it just it just, it just looks bigger. 13:16 The target looks like you have a lot more space to land a ball. So but the greens out there are just so firm, so pure. But I think, yeah, I think we got to get you out there and I'll say not just the golf course here, pro shop slash logo is like a definite pass on my. 13:36 Book. Yeah, I know. You bought a hat from them, didn't you? Or No, you bought a hat. I have I have a hat into it. I bought both. I did I it it passed the must play. It passed the Jones test for me. OK practice facilities are top notch. 13:53 Like like we like we ranked Rams. It's right up there with ramps like it could it could take over the musty for that for practice facilities. I think it, I believe it has all of the different digital readers of what the yardages are actually at for the markers out on the range that day. 14:13 Yeah. Two different putting greens, a separate chipping green like balls are included all that and then the restaurant in there is phenomenal. Great post round hang and looks out over the course just no like it's, it's, it's going to, it's going to pass. 14:35 I I have some feelings on where it's going to fail. But yeah, it's we got, we got to get you out there and I'm hoping that, you know, with you out here, we can make even just a a day trip or, you know, the boys go and stay at a crappy Airbnb on a Saturday night in Palm Springs after we played during the day. 14:52 Yeah, it's not too far from San Diego, right? Like what would it be like an hour and a half maybe? It's like 2, two and a half 'cause it's, it's fairly, it's not like 'cause it's PG OS isn't in Palm, it's in, it's in Palm Desert I think, or it's in Cathedral City. 15:10 So it's a little bit outside of it depending upon traffic, it's like two 2 1/2, but it's not too bad. That's not bad. It's you could, we could do it in a day, we could suck it up and. Do Tucson like we did for Quarry Pines or something like that? Exactly like we did Quarry Pines. We did it in a day trip. 15:25 The drive home kind of sucks, but you could. It can be done. Yeah, you could do it. OK, love that for the first course. I mean, we're going. That is banger. Banger, right? I mean, you put it out there, I said. I said we're going to bring a banger. But I want to hear what yours is. 15:40 I want to see how it compares. Which category you want me to go with? First, do do it. If you want to match the heavy hitter, you can. If you got another one that you want to drop, do it. We have, we have. We have nothing to do, no structure. Just RIP it. We're just flowing, man. 15:58 Heavy hitter. I'll do that one. You already said it, Quintero. Yeah, it has to be I I cannot do another year of this pod with people commenting Quintero on YouTube or anywhere else and then being like, yeah, we just got to get TJ out there. 16:15 You need to get out there. It's it's far from me, like I said, but you know, if you guys notice my background doesn't look like you used to look on this podcast. It's because we're moving. I've teared this, I've torn this office down essentially. So we might be making the trip out from California together or maybe before we move. 16:35 I don't know how that situation is going to work, but yeah, yeah. Quintura, let me pitch you on this real quick. If you want to bucket list course in Arizona, this is continuously rated one of the number one public golf courses in Arizona. It just got renovated. They closed it down for a little bit last year and they just reopened in the in the fall or the winter. 16:55 So there's a good reason to go check it out. A lot of people want to know what it's like since it is some of the most gorgeous views from a hole that you'll ever see. Some of those par threes are diabolical, like you're going to fly a ball hundreds of feet down into a green that you're like, how many clubs do I take off? 17:14 The practice facilities there are insanely good. You feel like you're at a resort, but there is no resort there necessarily. So you're just out in the middle of the mountains kind of like, you know, if you played like a, a Sedona resort course where you're just like, you're out in nature. 17:30 Kind of thing. There's, there's that, OK, There's been two times where I felt like that in my life on a golf course. Sedona 7 Canyons is #1 #2 is trails at Bandon. 17:46 Oh God, yeah, yeah. For sure trails is crazy because you just you feel like you're the only person on a golf course. Yeah, which is a surreal feeling. This is like if you've you probably haven't played Ventana Canyon in Tucson either. It's just duaros everywhere on the mountains. 18:02 And it's just like, so cool to see a lot of elevation change and just, yeah, if we're going to put it up to a must play test, I mean, this could be the benchmark that other Arizona courses have to compete with. Because let's say, for example, I take you somewhere else really good course and we rate this better or equal to Quintero. 18:23 Now we know, oh, in our book, the must play test doesn't wait the same way Golf Digest ranks courses, obviously. So where does that change things around? OK, yeah, 'cause we do. We don't have what our top Arizona courses so far have been grass clippings. 18:42 Nation got A7. Greyhawk got A7. Greyhawk got A7, Papago got a six. Dobson, we need to do justice and bring it back. We might have to do some. We might have to do some redux after changing a few of the questions. 18:59 On this is for Dobson. Range, Justice for Dobson. Yeah, so there's someone, someone needs to set the bar. There's definitely an 8 or a nine in the in the Phoenix area. It's out there. And you think Quintero could be the one? I think Quintero's gonna check a lot of boxes. 19:19 I would be shocked if it's not 7 or higher. OK, Yeah. OK. So I mean, obviously I didn't need to be sold on it. It was obviously being a rollover from last year. I appreciate you doubling down on it though, so that we have to kind of force it. 19:35 And, and if I were to, you know, I won't, I won't lead any of the witnesses that might be voting on this. So we'll just we'll, we'll continue to roll on. OK, give me your value find. All right, my value find is going to be another Oceanside golf course, much like Goat Hill. 19:54 It's going to be Arrowood, which is just a little bit more inland from there. Arrowood while. Some people might not look at the price and say it is a value find. For Southern California, a $90.00 weekend twilight is definitely a value find. 20:17 Yeah, the sliding scale here, right? It is the sliding scale where there are a lot of people across the country who would say $90.00 is a value for a full course like Arrowood is. It is a. It is definitely a value find. I'm pulling it up right now. 20:33 I'm just, I'm not the price. I just want to look at the course because I haven't played here yet, so I think it's good things. Yeah, I think it's I think it's 100 during the week for regular 70 twilight Monday through Thursday and then weekends are 120 and 90. OK, so I've played this course once. 20:54 I definitely want to get one back on this course. There is AI think it's it's either A4 hole or a three hole stretch. I think it's 15. I think it's 15 through 17. I think it's a 3 hole stretch called the quandary, which is like the three most difficult holes on the golf course. 21:11 And the group that I played with that day had never played there. So they didn't know what to expect or how to play any of these holes. And I would like to go back with that knowledge. I had not done any prior research leading into this round. 21:26 Hand up again accountability team. That's on me. There is I believe it's 16. There is a fully blind tee shot down a hill where going back I had no business hitting driver and all four of us hit driver and all four of us did not find our balls. 21:47 Love that. And like going back. I should just play this hole as like a par 5. But it's a good course. It's it's a it's a little it's a little sneaky. You want to everything weirdly like funnels to the left of this course. So it's kind of you might hate it because ever, like I said, everything funnels to the left on this course for some reason, but I think there's a good possibility out there also just a good overall course in general. 22:15 They have a very cool like lit range with they they've got kind of the Dobson vibe where they have some of the covered bays with the TV and they've got like an elevated bar out there. So it like it's definitely a place to go and hang. 22:30 Like it's somebody who looked at this course and said, Oh, Goat Hill crushes it with how many people just go to their range at night and hang out and chop it up like it's the community watering hole. Why don't we do that here? And they did, and it's great. 22:46 It's kind of close by too, but isn't this one closer to Camp Pendleton? Like it's on the border up there. Most definitely you can definitely. I've definitely heard explosions on this golf course, much like we had heard at like camelbacks or not camelback at the crossings in Carlsbad. 23:01 Like crossings. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I've definitely heard the same here. Like you can definitely on a on a quiet day, you can definitely hear some, some testing going on. OK. But yeah, I wanna, I wanna get, I wanna get you out to this one. I think it's a good course. I think I think it'll fare well on the test because I do think there's some variety out there due to the quandary and some of the other holes that are out there. 23:23 Like I said, I I think for California less than 100 bucks for a full length golf course that has a decent amount of hole variety to it, it's a good value. OK, it's hard for me to not be like, yeah, I'm in, let's do it because I'm trying not to persuade anyone who's going to be voting because I'm like, yeah, all these courses are going to be courses. 23:44 I want to go play like spoiler, I love golfing and I want to go play like more than six rounds with. Spoiler alert, we run a golf podcast and we like playing new GG. Open my windows. It's getting a little dark in here. You're good, OK. 24:01 Are you going to rip your? Are you going to rip your value here, or are you going to rip your wild card? No, I'll stay in order. Let's go value. OK, wild card. I feel like it's a fun one to leave to the end. OK, OK. My value find is going to be Rustic Canyon. Oh, OK. 24:19 Moorpark just north of LA. This is technically, I think Ventura County. This is widely cited as one of the best values in the United States, let alone California. Let me just hit you with some of their fees or their their prime time, quote UN quote rates. 24:36 OK, this is just north of LA. If you want to play Monday to Thursday, you're looking at $65 for a prime time tee time. You want to play Friday, Saturday, Sunday or holidays, you're looking at a Max of 90. Yep, cart. Maybe you want to walk 12 bucks for a pushcart, 20 bucks for a regular cart. 24:58 So you're looking at like 1:10 1/10 for a course that's supposed to be as good as rustic Canyon, like again, Southern California, that's a great deal. I've heard that this is one of the courses that is a thinking man's course. Like there's it doesn't need water or exactly just like smoke a cigarette and you have a coffee and you think about it, you stand out there in front of the first tee. 25:23 Check how the wind's blowing that day. It's you don't need water or force carries to really put danger in your head. I like a course that makes me think is putter the right move here from 40 yards out? 25:39 Is, is driver the wrong move here? Because there's, you know, there's going to be what are what are the names of the things that we got butchered on for social media for not knowing when we were talking about, oh, Baranca Baranca, thank you. 25:55 That might be Baranca's. There's random like little dry Creek beds running through and stuff like that. It just looks so good. And I think it's going to be something that will score well and for the value. 26:10 I know it's going to do well and sounds like a nice little trip. Like I would love to go up there and go play something and maybe go meet up with some people that play up there all the time. They don't get a chance to come down to San Diego. Also, AZ has said a lot about this course and another course I don't want to spoil in case it comes up, but I've heard good things about Rusty Canyon so. 26:30 I almost put the other course on but I left it off. OK, so then we can say it, 'cause I didn't put it either, which is Seoul Park. Yeah, Yeah, I Seoul Park sounds insane. I should probably put that on here, but I, I bumped it off for Rusty Canyon for value find at the moment. 26:47 That's fair, yeah. I almost went somewhat similar area, a little bit more Inland Empire and I almost threw Oak quarry on here as well. That's Riverside, right? Yeah, but because I also like, I don't know if you've seen, I love the Okhori logo as well. 27:06 And as anybody who has been following along on social media knows, I'm a very big golf course logo guy. Or if you follow along with the podcast, I'm always the one who. Is. We get to Jonesy tests and all of a sudden I talk for 5 minutes straight and then everyone goes, yeah, I agree with TJ it's a fail, or I agree with TJ it's And then I'm like, Oh yeah, I almost always take up the Jonesy test. 27:28 If you have a logo you think TJ would like, make sure to send him a poker chip. He loves collecting poker. Chip love poker chip ball markers, abolish poker chip ball markers, abolish them. They're terrible. If you I, I will say if you collect if that is your thing to collect from golf courses and that's how you want to like display what golf. 27:47 Courses. Play them. Into by all means, but do not lay down like an inch and a half, you know 1/5 of an inch thick coin down on a green. It's so distracting it would drastically alter a putt if anyone were to roll over it. 28:08 Oh yeah, they're not for rolling over it. And it's so big too. It takes up so much space too. Like, is that your line? Yeah, it's in my fucking line. It's like somewhere near the hole. It's all I can see. Actually, it's it's almost as big as the hole is. I have a good ball marker short for you real quick. 28:24 I played the other day at Kenny Mac. Ken McDonald, for those who don't know, beloved Muni course in Tempe. And the guys we get paired with are both fresh out of college. I think he said he graduated the year before. And so they don't have ball mark on the 1st hole and they just throw AT in the thing. 28:42 But the other guy didn't know what to do. So I look down and there's a wedding ring on the green and I'm like, is this yours? And he goes, Oh yeah. And I go to pick it up instinctively like he dropped his wedding ring and he goes up for mark. What are you talking about? 28:59 A wedding ring is a ball mark. Not only is my ball going to hit this and it's just going to move your wedding ring, but you're going to lose your fucking wedding ring. Like don't put this on the green. That's an obscene thing to think about. We this is funny. We just got off the live stream. We were just talking about Jacob Bridgeman playing with his wedding ring on. 29:17 And. I can only imagine you being like, oh I guess this is the only thing I have in my entire golf bag. Have you ever seen people try to mark it with like a leaf or a stick? Yeah, I've seen the leaf. Yeah, the leaf one is always, always gets me too, where it's like, well, what if a wind blows like. 29:34 I give my dad marks all the time because he always leaves him at home. Like I'm like, why are you taking him out of your bag? It's like leave him in the bag. And he's like, I don't have a sorry and he looks for change. But the ones that I give him, I gave him two Bannon Dunes ones all the time. Just really quickly. Greg Massey, no matter how many times I've told him, he thinks it's Banyan Dunes. 29:55 Interesting. Like a banyan tree type thing. Yeah, I've corrected him no less than 20 times and he'll still say I'm so sorry man, I left your Banyan Dunes mark at home like it's Banyan Dunes, which drives me nuts. 30:13 OK, wild card last category here. You want to hit me with your wild? Card. All right, my wild card here is going to be Medearis. Oh, OK. I I believe you have already played Maderis. 30:31 So my reasoning here was that we have to check this off as a must play. It is. And then I have no excuse. It is so unbelievably close to my house. Yeah. It is. It's it's no more than 15 minutes from my front door. 30:47 And it is supposed to be one of the top public courses in San Diego. And I'm just mad. It's, this is more so me just putting it out there that I have to own up to the fact that I haven't played it yet. And I need to, I need a reason to force myself to go and do it. 31:06 Yeah, I can't. I can't keep avoiding it. I can't let anything stop me from doing it. Like, you've put it on the list. Get it done. I don't want people to vote it through. Don't vote it through. I want to do it. I want to be the one who makes the. Decision to go into it, Yeah, this is not gone in the poll. 31:24 No, we're not even, don't even, don't even vote this. If you vote this, we'll strike it from the record. We'll pretend like this. We'll cut this from the podcast. Yeah, I don't, I don't have a time to add here. It's just a matter of fact that it's it's supposed to be such a good course. And I know you've played it and I think you'd I I think you played it a while ago. 31:44 So I think it'd maybe be a good refresher for you. I haven't played it in 10 years. OK. So it'd be, so it'd definitely be a good refresher for you. I should not try and go play this by myself. But then ultimately, yeah, this is one, this is another one that we hear all of the time from the San Diego side of things. 32:01 Yeah, the two that we constantly usually get for San Diego when we say where should we go? Do another must play corset is this and ABR? Those are and those are technically both on my list, one being from last year and then this one being added to it. 32:17 So I, I just, I, I, I can't keep avoiding it. And I think, I think the reason I partially avoid it is because I know it's difficult and I know I'm going to lose half a dozen balls that day. Yeah. Unless I magically figure some things out. But we got to do it. 32:33 It's got to be done. OK, I'm in Mederis. I haven't played in 10 years, but it I know it's supposedly I haven't played Journey of Pechanga either, but whiffs of that type of golf probably not as well. 32:54 I think Pechanga is supposed to be in better shape, but Mederis is always in great shape as far as I know. So. Pechanga is in great shape. Yeah, it's, it's in great shape. I played it in like the middle of summer and it was like in really good shape when it's dry and hot out there. 33:12 And yeah, I think, but I think it's of a similar vein. Lot of lot of trees kind of OB to kind of keep things in recent elevation changes. But yeah, I've, I've heard, I've heard good things. 33:27 And obviously we we got it, we got to cross it off. It's got to be done. All right, I have an option for you for my wild card here. Oh boy. We've only picked California and Arizona courses because, you know, they're most likely the ones we're going to go play. I have one California option and I have one Oregon option based on, you know, do you think you're going to get out to Oregon in 2026? 33:51 And if so, my Oregon one's making the list. But if you think that's not feasible, then I'll go with California. I got to be honest, I don't think the Oregon trip is going to happen this year. Damn. OK. I know, I know. No, cuz I think the reason we would go out to to Portland, that person has already reserved some space this year for their trip for us and. 34:13 Yeah, Yeah. We'll be going out to Europe for that one. OK. Let me just say what the Oregon course was, but. Yeah, drop it on me at least. At least put it out there. But know that this is not eligible for the vote, people. Not my vote. This is honorable mention Gearhart. Yep, I knew that that's what it was going to be too. 34:30 I'm not going to say a ton about it, but for those who know they know is special. It is honestly up there with Chambers, Bandon, any of those courses. Not nearly as scenic as either of those courses, not nearly as tough as you those courses. 34:48 But in terms of character and like destination, Gearhart is so cool. The McMenamins bar and restaurant putting green they have there. I'll stop there. OK, The oyster bar or whatever that the putting green is, is that what it's called? Clam bed? The clam bed. 35:05 The Oyster bar, dude, it's so much fun. It's like a little punch bowl they got there. Yeah, OK. Anyways, my wild card. This is a course that I don't think you've heard of, but I want you to Google it immediately when I say it so you can see their logo and I can get a live logo reaction out of my guy. 35:26 All right. You ready? Yep, lay it on me. Strawberry Farms Golf Club. Oh, in it's like, it's not San Clemente, it's OC, isn't it? Yeah, it's Irvine. Yeah, yeah. So I know of the name Strawberry Farms. 35:43 I've driven past it a handful of times, like going from like LA going out to like Dana Point or going to going to San Clemente. But I do not. Is the logo just. Oh no folks, this logo is real bad. 36:00 You. Want to describe it? I'll put up. I'll put the graphic on here for those who are watching, but for those who. Are if you're listening, this is a not even a golf ball sized strawberry. It's a very small strawberry on a wooden tee with two crossing golf clubs behind it and then a a banner that says strawberry farms on it. 36:23 Across all of that, this this is five individual pieces of clip art as a logo. Stapled together for sure. This is a this is dude. The thing I. 36:39 Want you. I want you to go here and I'm going to buy you a piece of merch so I can see. I can only imagine. The biggest thing for me with like a lot of golf course logos is how do they look as embroidery? Yeah, yeah, yeah. And this is going to look terrible embroidered on a polo. 36:57 What do you think? What do you think the big letter hat for strawberry farms is? Berry. Just or it's SSTRWBRY strawberry. Hold on, I got a so the other thing I do here when I look at these is try and see if they've got a vintage logo. 37:21 That cause a lot of times right now the vintage logos are way better and they went through like a modernization in the mid 2000s. That's a lot better. But then I also love to check eBay to actually see how the logo looks on things. 37:45 Oh, it's so I'm looking at a golf ball right now and it looks so bad. So bad. OK, well, let me pitch you on the course. Do you wanna just? Send me to this I I know I I know it's a good course like from what I've seen it's a good looking course but this logo is so bad. 38:02 Also can we pause really quick? I got the sun coming in my. Eyes. Yeah, we can pause such a cliffhanger. All right, go ahead. All right, here's the pitch. Why Strawberry Farms? You just said it. You drive by this course all the time. You see it on the way out, right? 38:18 You haven't stopped yet though. You know it's a good course. You see reviews. Reviews are great, well maintained, awesome views, really fun holes, delicious restaurant. Everyone says the restaurant here is one of the better restaurants at a course, people. 38:34 I would say 1/4 of the reviews of this course are for people who just came to the restaurant. But here's the pitch. Here's why I want to do it. We go up there, I take the family, you take Ashley, maybe even Lando, because dogs are allowed up here at this restaurant. 38:53 And we go in the fall when they're running a pumpkin patch. They run a full pumpkin patch at the restaurant at the course. OK, we have a nice little basic fall day. You and I peel off, go play team and meet up with the wives and kid for a pumpkin patch Fall festival slash restaurant day. 39:18 Little delightful fall festival slash golf. I think it would be so much fun. It looks so good during Halloween pumpkin patch season. I'm just like that would be. Such a fun trip. So the tough that I I will say like alternatively, if I'm just rebuking this, we have the strawberry fields slash pumpkin patch in. 39:38 Carlsbad, I know, but that's no, no, no. There's no course attached to that other than Crossings, which is nearby. Or we could go play Aviara and check it off the list. I want to do this no strawberry farm. You don't want to stay at Omni La Costa and do. 39:55 Just making them more expensive now. What if you live in Carlsbad? Then you don't have to stay anywhere. True also. Just like this course looks so opposite of desert. That's what I love about it. It's like it looks like Parkland, golf, super green in the bushes, the woods, like just beautiful all around. 40:15 And I'm like, yes, yes, yes, check. Check. There's some. There's some scary shots out there. Where it's like a little bit of a forced carry over water and then all that water like runs up the left side of the hole and you're just 18 and you're just standing on there saying like, do not rush this swing right now and snap hook one of these. 40:35 So you're like, everything over here is wide open. The last thing you need to do is rush one of these. Like also from what I can tell this has always been their logo. Dude, I know I can't wait to talk about that if we review it, but also we just need more courses in that part of the California. 40:58 We haven't done a lot over there, so. I would for sure, for sure. I, I, I, I regret a little bit not going a little bit more north than just PGA West Stadium. Yeah. Because yeah, there's going to be a whole plethora of. I mean, even when I think about it like San Clemente Muni, like that's a great course that we. 41:17 That was one of my honorable mentions as a value find. I did. I had Gearhart San Clemente as 2 value finds that I. Thought was San San Clemente the the tough part about? I mean, luckily it'll only be two of us so it'll be easier to get on, but San Clemente is very hard to get a tea towel. Really. And I'm sure as people, as we start to venture up a little bit more north and start to get more Orange County, LA Palm Springs onto the onto the must play test and we start to garner a little bit more of that audience and people stop just hammering us for a week. 41:49 O PA Quintero, Aviara and Medeiros for what they want us to do. People are going to bother us about Monarch. People are going to bother us about Trump International, Pelican Hill, Pelican Hill Sandpiper will come up even more like. 42:04 So we're going to start to get into that. I, I foresee a lot of day, Saturday day trips or, or, you know, one Friday a month where, you know, we both take off of work. The boys just skirt out of town earlier morning on a Friday to go play some golf and make sure we're home by 8:00 PM. 42:23 Well, Sandpiper almost was on my list, but I took it off at the last minute. But my pitch for that would be we take the train all the way up to. Sandpiper Oh my God. We just, we just, we either just, we either just make it a whole vlog of riding the train up. Yes, just have or. We live or we just or we just live stream on the train. 42:40 Oh my. God, that would be sick. Here's what we do. OK, we we're going to wrap this up. We wanted to keep this one a little bit shorter, but this is going to be what we're going to do if we do Sandpiper again. Not eligible for voting. We'll we'll explain what 6 are eligible for voting. We leave on like a Friday night or even like a Thursday night. 42:58 We take the train up in the evening and we do beers on the train on the way up and then we have a boy and we have a boys night and then we play golf in the morning at Sandpiper and then take the train back down. That sounds exquisite. 24 hours, we're done. 43:14 And then you come home on like a Friday and you're like, I still got the whole weekend. I got a little liquored up on the train, come home. I'm excited to see my wife, my dog. Also, how cool is how cool is taking your clubs on a golf train A golf train? Jesus Christ, what? 43:31 Percent is that fistful of gummies. Only 5 percent. It's like only 597 beer. Stupid, I was going to. Say the only golf trains I've been on are bogey trains, yeah. 43:49 Folks, I think that's it. I think that's where we call it, I think. We'll grab it there. All right, so we're going to be putting polls out there. TJ will let you know. I think we'll be doing this on Spotify, maybe socials and we'll be counting out votes and one of these will make our list in 2026. 44:04 And we would love to maybe golf with some of you guys on some of these courses. So if there's any of these that you've been wanting to hit up, let us know. Maybe we'll do some listener meet up and I'm looking forward to maybe more than half this year being over there by you and playing some more California golf. 44:20 Let's. Bang them out, I'm ready for I'm ready for day trips just to get more courses underneath the belt. Let's do it, OK? All. Right ma'am, as always, please, we thank you very much for listening.
